Thomas and Friends partners up with Fisher-Price to celebrate 65th anniversary

To commemorate the 65th anniversary of Thomas and Friends, HIT Entertainment has announced a new Australian partnership with Fisher-Price for the much-loved children’s tank engine.
Fisher-Price will assume the TrackMaster rights from Funtastic in Australia and New Zealand this year, while Thomas and Friends is due to enter into several other licensing agreements throughout the globe.
Retail stores can expect some new DVD releases later this year, with Misty Island Rescue, an hour-long Thomas and Friends animation, slated to hit Australia, Europe, the US and Asia.
Production has also commenced in Los Angeles on a Thomas and Friends theatrical feature, which is expected to be released in 2011 and has garnered the hand of John Klausner, one of the creative minds behind Shrek the Third, as the film’s scriptwriter.
The international Thomas and Friends website, www.thomasandfriends.com will also be revamped this year to mark the brand’s 65th birthday and will feature a new Engine Depot and more than 60 activities.
