kikki.K opens new store on Chapel Street

[Tue 23/11/2010 05:22:59]

kikki.K has opened a store on Chapel Street, Melbourne, signalling another exciting step in this Melbourne business success story, which has grown from one Swedish fashion stationery boutique in Melbourne to over 50 across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore in less than 10 years.

Prior to launching her business, kikki.K founder Kristina Karlsson conducted market research including focus groups with friends and family, and by simply asking Chapel Street shoppers what they thought of her idea.

With an overwhelmingly positive response, Karlsson was confident in opening her first boutique in Melbourne Central, even convincing her partner Paul Lacy to sell his house to fund the opening.

“It feels like yesterday that I was standing there on the corner of Chapel and Toorak Road with a big idea, a whole lot of determination and just a few rough sketches of the kikki.K retail concept,” says Karlsson.

“It was a great exercise that provided me with invaluable feedback, which really influenced where we are today.”

Karlsson, a past winner of Telstra National Young Business Woman of the Year, founded kikki.K when she struggled to find the stylish stationery and gifts she was used to in her Scandinavian homeland of Sweden.

The new kikki.K store is located at 554 Chapel Street, Melbourne.
