Monkey Caboose first in Australia to sell Princess Catherine Engagement doll

Online business Monkey Caboose is the first store in Australia with distribution of the Princess Catherine engagement doll.
Owner Kellie McCorkell says she got the exclusive simply because she was the first to ask.
“It’s actually that I’m the first store to enquire about the product," she says. "They’re yet to set up a distribution chain in Australia which is going to take a couple of months so in the meantime Monkey Caboose has got exclusivity while they get the distribution chain set up.”
Six British designers came together to design parts of the doll including a replica of the dress worn by the now Duchess of Cambridge during the engagement announcement.
“It’s actually a very good replica of Kate Middleton and all of the designers were hand picked in Britain to design all the different components of the dollÂ… so it’s quite special. It looks like a Barbie doll and you can actually dress her up and take her shoes on and off and her handbag, it’s very cute.”
Only 10,000 are available worldwide with the dolls almost sold out across the UK and US. McCorkell says an even smaller number of the product will be available in Australia.
“The supplier has only got limited stock available to start with. We’ll only be getting about a hundred dolls into Australia and I’m getting small shipments from there until they’re sold out” she adds.
The product was added to the Monkey Caboose website just two days ago. Customers can pre-order the product and expect them to arrive in a few weeks.
McCorkell is thrilled to be able to sell such a coveted item as she is often on the hunt for something unique.
“It’s fantastic [I’m] always looking to have something different to all the other online store so it’s lovely to have something different I think.”
Royal Wedding collectors will want to snap up the doll fast with more related products on the way.
“There’s actually going to be a Royal Wedding doll with a replica of her in her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress but the release date is unknown for that, so it’s probably a month or two away,” McCorkell says.
“There’s even a rumour of a Prince William doll but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.”
