Katherine Mahoney to make exclusive pieces for art exhibition shop

Visitors will enjoy works produced by German artists from 1910 to 1937. More than 200 pieces will be on show with movements such as Expressionism, Dada and Constructivism explored.
Mahoney’s pieces include pots with circles, bowls and platters. She says she used bold simple lines, strong colour and patterns to reflect the artistic period.
“I so enjoyed trying to convey the sense of excitement and change that appeared evident to me in these works,” she says. “Margaret Marks, El Lissitzky and Schwitters particularly inspired me.”
The UK trained potter explains she is delighted to have been asked to make the exclusive products.
“The Art Gallery of New South Wales invited me to collaborate with them on a range to compliment the works. Initial ideas, colours and shapes were submitted and after creative tweaking and meetings the final range was decided upon.”
She believes the exhibition is a must see.
“The Mad Square exhibition is about a very important time in art history – these works have been garnered from all over the world and an opportunity to see these pieces should not be missed,” she exclaims.
