Noritake releases Marc Newson collection

[Tue 06/09/2011 09:50:06]

Retailers can now get their hands on the Marc Newson collection after the range was officially released by Noritake.

Originally created as dinnerware for business and first class passengers flying international with Qantas Airways, Marc Newson’s pieces created such demand they are now available to the general market. New designs and sizes were created to suit home use.

Noritake national sales manager Steven Yeend says working with both Newson and Qantas was a rewarding experience.

“The collection was created as a result of collaboration among Marc Newson, Qantas Airways and Noritake,” he says. “To be able to work with an internationally acclaimed designer and a market leader in the air travel is such a privilege and we are very grateful to have had this opportunity.

“It was a challenging and long process, trying to find the best balance between the inspiration of Marc Newson design and the functionality required for commercial use. We wanted a design that is practical to use inflight while maintaining the distinctive look that Marc has created.”

Yeend says the interest in the product is because of its stylish simplicity.

“White dinnerware is always useful as it suits all sorts of dishes. But unlike other white dinnerware available in the market, the shape of each item in the range is very unique and stylish.

“It is also manufactured from the finest bone china and is commercial quality tough, dishwasher and microwave safe. All items come in pop blue gift box and would make a perfect quirky gift,” he explains.

Although a hit with retailers, there are no plans to extend the range beyond the current selection but this may change depending on its success.
