Reusable shopping bag brand Apple Green Duck will exhibit at a trade fair outside of Australia for the first time when it presents at Top Drawer London in January.
The event is the UK’s leading design-led show for gifts, fashion and accessories and is popular with many European buyers because of its location.
Owner and designer Wendy Pollard says the team is very excited about the opportunity to take its products to a wider audience.
“In the past we have had numerous enquiries from the UK and Europe but have not been in the position to commence an export program,” she says.
“I am confident that Apple Green Duck will have a successful fair and looking forward to develop a strong export trade.”
A trend away from plastic bags in foreign countries means the time is right for Apple Green Duck to make headway into the overseas marketplace.
“The environmental market is steadily increasing all over the world and as a number of countries and towns are becoming plastic bag free, the demand for good reusable bags are increasing. Italy is plastic bag free and Gordon Brown is encouraging the UK to stop the excessive single use of plastic bags,” Pollard explains.
She believes her products will be a hit with buyers overseas.
“Apple Green Duck is unique, Australian and has a varied fun range that appeals to a wide commercial audience. Our range is environmentally friendly; we are using a lot of jute in our range which is an amazing fibre that is totally biodegradable, perfect for printing and constructing bags.”
The business is now focusing on merchandising its stand to best show products and what Apple Green Duck is about.
