Sourcing fair heads to Sydney for first time

[Wed 16/11/2011 02:41:33]

The Australian International Sourcing Fair  (AISF) kicks off in Sydney for the first time next week bringing overseas manufacturers to local wholesalers, importers and buyers.

Held at Sydney Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour it is run in conjunction with the China Clothing and Textiles Expo.

This year’s AISF events show an increase in the number of countries and international organisations participating with numbers expected to pass 350. Exhibitors from countries such as Thailand, Fiji, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India will show off their best products from fashion to homewares.

Fiji will display goods under the banner ‘Make it in Fiji’ as part of an interactive pavilion.

“The Melbourne 2010 event was an excellent platform to showcase to Australian importers what our industry can do,” says Kalpesh Solanki, president clothing and footwear Council of Fiji.

“This year our delegation will include new companies in addition to the seven that participated last year."

Australian Exhibitions and Conferences' international business development manager, Julie Holt, says the boost in exhibitor numbers is due to the growth of the fair’s reputation.

“Our engagement with the exhibiting countries since the launch of the sourcing fair in 2010 has led to some valuable relationships and a clear understanding of cross-market dynamics in key sectors,” she says.

“We are in a unique position to bring Australian buyers access to the type of products that they are seeking to source internationally and at the same time deliver interested buyers to the exhibitors at this fair. All of the countries that participated in 2010, and indeed many of the companies, have reconfirmed their participation this year. This is a strong indicator of the success of this show."

AISF Sydney starts November 22.
