Thirsty Gecko goes national

[Thu 24/11/2011 09:35:51]

A drink bottle brand launched three years ago has started making big waves in the gifts and homewares sector with the product now stocked nationwide and a doubling in sales last month.

Thirsty Gecko was created by three Brisbane mums frustrated by the choice of plastic, stainless steel and aluminium water bottles on the market. The trio wanted a competitively priced, high quality BPA free stainless steel bottle.

The range is now sold in King of Knives stores across Australia as well as selected post offices, newsagents and pharmacies.

“As mums, we found we were constantly replacing plastic drink bottles simply because lids were broken or hard to keep clean,” says founding partner, Jane Weule. “The environmental impact of discarded plastic drink bottles was a major concern as were the potential health risks from continual use.

“We were also dissatisfied with the design, quality and price of other drink bottles on the market and decided we could offer a high quality product that was more practical for children and families, and more competitively priced.”

Weule believes the growth in interest for the brand is due to Christmas and summer being around the corner as well as back to school trading.

The bottles come in three sizes with a choice of lid styles. The drink bottle opening is wide enough for easy cleaning and to fit ice cubes inside.

Thirsty Gecko also runs a fundraising program for schools.
