While stocking up on products is an important focus for visitors at the upcoming Sydney Home & Giving Fair, they will also discover this season’s trends and pick up decor ideas.
Three key themes have emerged from an early look at exhibitor offerings in homewares, kitchenware, giftware and accessories, according to Sydney-based stylist Stav Hortis.
She has identified products with an international influence, knitted look and green theme.
"Eco friendly design is growing at an incredible pace. 'Up cycling' and recycling are gaining momentum around the world, particularly in developing countries where the availability of raw materials is expensive. As a result we see the emergence of 'eco products',” she says.
"As another economic downturn looms we're moving towards more homely and cocooning aesthetics. Our fears and worries are played out in our material choices as we lean towards softer handcrafted interior pieces. Coiled, stitched and threaded products provide a more handcrafted feel.
'Ethnic envoy' is the fusion of different cultures with all bright colours and bold splendour merging together to create a melting pot. It's warm, interesting with lots of focal interest - a visual feast. Traditional furniture styles are given an individuality and uniqueness creating a bespoke look.
"A good example of this trend is hand-loomed carpets or fabric worked on classic pieces of furniture, such as couches and armchairs,” she adds.
