Clay, stone and raw linen―these are the key ingredients of relaxed, casual dining according to Japanese tableware specialist, Noritake.

Colorwave Clay is Noritake’s latest offering and, as the name implies, it combines fine stoneware―in a finish that has all the tactile beauty of handmade―in exterior tones of matte raw clay and an interior of glazed ivory.  The perfect background to Colorwave Clay is undoubtedly a soft, relaxed linen tablecloth in a sunbleached neutral shade.

And while Colorwave is an unconventionally fine stoneware―almost as fine as porcelain―it is remarkably robust being both microwave and dishwasher safe as well as chip-resistant.

The collection of 16 pieces―comprising four coupe dinner plates, coupe salad plates, cereal/pasta bowls and mugs―features contemporary shapes and profiles with soft, slightly curved sides.

Noritake’s Colorwave Clay 16-piece dinner set retails for $395 and is available now.
